2 week agoSyria: Today, a heavy airlift aircraft (C-17) was filmed departing the US base in Shadadi (southern Hasakah), amid unofficial reports that the US has begun withdrawing from the site.
A spokesperson for the US Central Command told Al Jazeera: We attach importance to completing the transfer of ISIS detainees from Syria to Iraq.
2 week agoU.S. forces have begun withdrawing from Al-Shaddadi base in Syria's northeastern Hasakah province, heading toward Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan, an Iraqi security source told Qatari Al-Araby TV. Syrian media reports that the U.S. convoy also includes buses carrying ISIS prisoners transported from Syria to Iraq

2 week agoNiger - ISIS Sahel: claims responsibility for "the assassination of a spy in Banibangou, and the attack on a gendarmerie base in Ayourou (3 dead, two days ago) & the attack on a checkpoint in Ayourou on January 22nd." Ayourou is a former deployment area for French and then American special forces.
